Female Education
Napoleon once said "Give me an educated mother and I will
give you an educated nation”. This statement is enough to prove the importance
of female education. Once female education was neglected in Bangladesh. Our
women folk could not get the chance of education for various problems. Early
marriage and the narrowness of our outlook were mainly responsible for this.
Parents thought it waste of time and money to educate their girls. They
considered that girls were intellectually inferior to male children. They did
not allow them to move freely and to participate in any outside work. They did
not understand that if girl children were educated they could be as competent
as male children. It is unfortunate that still there are some people who
strongly oppose the female education. However, the scenario has changed nowadays.
At present, girls are encouraged to study and admitted into schools, colleges
and universities. Government has taken some steps to educate female children.
Education for girls up to Degree level has been made free with a monthly
stipend. This encourages them to continue their education. We should remember
that only educated women can change the picture of our society. We hope the
literacy rate of women in our country will increase substantially in near
future.
Yeah! No doubt education is necessary, and its so sad to see that in Asia there's still a gender discrimination that harassed the parents, and they don't allow their female students to get education in the the big institutes. They should be given opportunity to get education at higher lever, because only well-educated and practiced female/women can change the nation. But there are some limitations for them which they should have to observe.
